PYCC Basketball Academy

PYCC is offering numerous spring basketball training opportunities for players to keep their skills up and continue to improve.​​

Unless noted otherwise on the event description below, basketball training clinics are held at the Sewickley Community Center and are open to boys and girls in grades 2-7, and cost $10 per session per participant.  For financial assistance, and any other questions please contact basketball@pyccenter.org.

NEW!  Little Hoopers Basketball Clinic​​

Open to kids in grades K-2 only
 

Lead by local basketball coach Emily Cottrill, this clinic will let even the youngest athletes experience the sport and learn the basics.  All skill levels are welcome, no basketball experience is required.

Participants can come hungry!  Before we take to the courts, we'll be serving up a dinner of Chick-fil-a nuggets and waffle fries, included in your registration.

Shoot to Score Workshop

Most Fridays | 3:15-4:15pm

Currently open to 6th graders only

​

Led by Coach Kevin Boyle, this session will get kids ready for the upcoming winter basketball season.

​​​​The Basketball Lab

Most Fridays | 6:00–7:30pm

 

Led by Coach Tommy Beynon, this session is focused on individual skill development, including shooting, ball handling, passing, and defensive techniques.  Players receive personalized instruction in a small-group setting and participate in live scrimmages to apply their skills in game situations. This is a high-energy session designed to help players improve in a fast-paced, competitive setting.

​​​​​​Jumpstart Hoops Workshop

3rd & 4th Grade Youth Development (2nd graders welcome)

Most Sundays | 3:00–4:30pm

​

Led by Coach Hank Watson, this session will emphasize foundational basketball skills such as ball handling, shooting, footwork, passing, defense, and teamwork.  Players will engage in drills, challenges, and controlled scrimmages to build confidence and develop good habits early.

​​Next Level Hoops Workshop

5th, 6th, & 7th Grade Development

Most Sundays | 4:30–6:00pm

 

Initially led by Coach Tommy Beynon, this session will prepare older players for competitive basketball by focusing on more advanced skill work, game IQ, and strategic decision-making.  Players will compete in structured scrimmages to reinforce key concepts in real-game situations.
